When the AC power passes through the stator coil of the motor, it generates an alternating magnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic field in the rotor coil, thereby generating a rotational torque, causing the motor to rotate.

    1. Different structures

    A DC motor usually consists of a stator, a rotor, brushes, a shaft, and a housing. The stator and rotor contain coils and magnets, respectively. In the motor, the stator coil is fixed to the motor housing, while the rotor coil is mounted on the motor shaft. Brushes are used to connect the stator coil to an external power source in order to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.

    The structure of an AC motors  is relatively simple, usually consisting of a stator, a rotor, a capacitor, a shaft and a housing. The stator and rotor also contain coils and magnets respectively. In an AC motor, the rotor coil is usually made of aluminum and connected to the stator coil through a capacitor.

    DC motors can achieve speed regulation evenly and economically. Therefore, all machines that start under heavy load or require even speed regulation, such as large reversible rolling mills, winches, electric locomotives, etc., are driven by DC motors.

    AC motor advantages

    Because AC motors  do not have carbon brushes and commutators, they do not generate sparks when the motor rotates, so they can operate in high temperature, flammable environments, and there is no need to clean the dirt on the carbon brushes regularly.

    Moreover, AC motors AC motors have higher working efficiency, produce no smoke or odor, do not pollute the environment, and produce less noise.
